REVIEW: TOKYO LOVE SOAP (Original)

**Note: This is a late post. I was supposed to upload this review two months ago but I was soooooooo busy with my work. Sorry.

*****************************************************************

Okay. I admit. I am a sucker for products which has a "whitening effect" on the skin.
Aside from "anti-acne" products, I am also fond of "whitening products". I do have personal reasons why but it'll take another blog for me to tell you guys.

That's a confession. :(

I have to blurt that secret out because I'll be doing a review for TOKYO LOVE SOAP

Here's the story.

I've never heard of this soap until a friend of mine who works in Japan told me she was selling a whitening soap named TOKYO LOVE SOAP.
I really do not have any idea what this is but she told me it's already popular and known to be very very effective.

I searched for this and there aren't a lot of (detailed) reviews about this product. But I found before and after photos which really looked credible and real.

The before and after photos would really convince you to BUY this soap. I was REALLY HESITANT to buy TOKYO LOVE SOAP because I have to shell out PhP 800 for one soap!

Yes, it's 800 Philippine pesos

Jeez! I still bought 2 soaps making me shell out PhP 1600 for two soaps! That's like 2 BB creams already! :(

Anyways, I, myself, have confirmed that I am a sucker for whitening products.

**********************************

Product Name: Tokyo Love Soap (Original)
Price: Bought it for 800pesos/100g soap from a friend who lives in Japan.

Hmmmm.. Sounds tempting, right? :)

Here's the ACTUAL PRODUCT that I have:

For a 100g soap, PhP 800.00 is TOO DAMN HIGH

Yipee! my first meme! I had to make this one because until now, I cannot believe I purchased 2 soaps that costs 800pesos each!

Alright!

I am done with ranting about the price. By the time you have reach this part, you already know that I am a sucker for whitening products at the same time, a hard-core 'kuripot'/ cheapskate.

And here's what I had to do with the soap. I had to cut it into bits so it could last for a long time.

The soap is kinda hard and breaks down into very small pieces (unlike other soaps that you can cut easily).

How to use it?

This is not the 'OFFICIAL' way to use this soap. This is just what I do whenever I use whitening soaps.
1. I used the soap twice a day. (When I take a bath in the morning and when I take a shower before going to bed).
2. I let the soap stay on my skin for around 3 minutes before I rinsed it off.
That's it.

The soap doesn't create a rich lather. Too bad because you have to use it more on you skin.

Here are the results
(DRUM ROLL PLEASE!)

I tried the soap last AUGUST 1, 2013. Please take note that I did not edit these pictures. These are all actual photos. I took all the  pictures in the same place, same lighting and always at the same time (12mn - before I went to bed).

See the difference?????

Here's another one. Sorry for my gigantic legs. :)

Hmm. I can say that there IS a difference before and after using  TOKYO LOVE SOAP (Original). My skin DID become whiter.

Unfortunately, here's the catch.

My skin dried up. My skin was really dry. :(
I have 'chicken skin' on my arms and dry skin usually aggravates it. :(

But anyways, I got a bit whiter. ^_^

One box of soap is good for a month's use (if you will divide the soap into small pieces).

Here's my take on  TOKYO LOVE SOAP (Original)
PROS:
1. The soap is 100% effective whitening soap. I just need to have patience (because I had to use it twice a day and I had to wait 3 minutes before rinsing it off).

CONS:

1. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE! Jeez.
I still have another box of TOKYO LOVE SOAP (Original). Might use it for emergency purposes na lang

2. The soap made my skin dry :(

3. Doesn't create a rich lather so it's kinds difficult to apply all over your body.

4. Not available locally. You have to get in through online shops. :(

Am I going to buy again?
If my boss gives me a raise. I love this product. I do. It's just that it's expensive. I'll buy this one in case I would really really really need it. But as an everyday soap, I guess it's not that practical for me considering what I earn.

But for those who can afford this, I suggest you go grab one ^_^

  1. hi! i have used this soap also while i'm in japan. i finished 2 soaps already. however, i noticed that some parts of my body (like the inner thighs and butt area) became darker instead of whiter.=( i would like to ask, did your skin felt a little "sensitive to friction" while you're using the soap? i think it made my skin "thin" and easy to tingle to friction due to clothing.

    1. hi! thanks for reading my blog :)
actually, aside from having dry skin, my skin did feel "thin" but there was no "tingle" whenever my skin touches my clothing. I guess you have a more sensitive skin than mine.
TLS madre my skin whiter but I was surprised that my skin was super dry. :( i just had to stop it becauause no matter how much lotion or moisturizer i put, it was still dry..

    2. I would want to continue using it, and wait until my skin whitens. But I worry too much that some areas would rather turn darker. Because of this, I also opt to stop using the soap.=( I envied those who really had benefits from the soap. Lol!

    1. I suffer from eczema and its medicated version is really gentle on my skin. I made a review on it's medicated version:

  6. You may want to try this product found on https://www.facebook.com/Soap-110211799320826 instead. It is available locally and moisturizes the skin. No need to use other skin products such as lotions, creams, astringent. It peels the skin finely which makes the skin lighter

  8. here in Japan, the word whitening in cosmetics means the componentthat helps maintain the glow of the skin and reduces dark spots/skin blemishes BUT not as to make a dark skinned person turn white.
