Random Thoughts: Week 2 - A Housewife's Diary

It has been two weeks since I left my job. Hindi ako sanay na walang trabaho. Since I was 20 years old, I have been working already and whenever I leave a company, I start working at another company the next day.

But not this time.

Now, I have been taking a rest from work for two weeks. Sampung araw na walang amo. I wake up whatever time I want. I sleep whenever I want.

I got married last October 2014 pero I never had a chance to stay at home and do housewife duties. Well this time, I am determined to do some housewife duties. :)

1. Laundry

I love to do the laundry IF the washing machine is fully automatic. Fully automatic meaning kapag nilagay mo yung labahan sa loob plus tubig at sabon, pag labas nang mga damit, tuyo na. Yun nga lang,  our washing machine is NOT automatic. Semi-automatic lang. Which means I still have to rinse the clothes after washing them with soap. After doing that, I have to rinse them all with fabric conditioner then hang them dry.
Doing this chore was really a difficult one. I only wash our everyday clothes, under garments and some clothes that needs to be hand-washed but for the rest, I let the experts handle them (special thanks to the laundry shop we have near our apartment).

2. Cooking

I love eating but I can't cook well. I can cook but my dishes do not taste that good. I can only cook a limited number of dishes. And when I say I can cook, it means cooking without relying on mixing powders or ready-made-sauces-for-ulam  you can buy in the supermarket.

- Adobo
- Sinigang
- Nilagang Baboy
- Spaghetti

That's it. I am just not passionate when it comes to cooking. My husband cooks better than me! Anyways, I still have to learn cooking or else my husband will end up having kidney stones and high cholesterol levels from eating canned goods and fast food.

3. Cleaning

I haven't had a chance to do a general cleaning of our house ever since I got married (take note: 8 months na akong kasal). I am so dead tired every Saturday and Sunday. During holidays, I take a rest and sleep for 12 - 14 hours. Call me lazy but my job's really giving me stress that I have to sleep whenever I have time.

So when I did some cleaning, I saw amazing and gross stuff. I also realized that our ceiling already had cobwebs (the ceiling looked like a ceiling from a haunted house).

This is just my problem. After cleaning the house, everything turns upside down again after a week or two. *Jeez!

4. Teaching

Since I am not doing anything, I volunteered to teach my beloved nephew. I teach him how to read and write some things but my favorite part - playing with him after all those studying. I guess this was the easiest job ever - to teach kids. I love teaching kids. I thank God for giving me patience when it comes to kids. :)

Honestly, being a housewife is a not-so-easy job (how much more if I have kids on my own). I really have high respect for housewives or stay-home moms (and stay-home dads). No amount of money could pay their dedication on making a house a home.

I believe that being a housewife is a job itself. Housewife LANG ako - This statement is a big NO-NO.

I do see myself being a housewife soon. It's one of the job that I am looking forward to in 3-4 years. I want to learn how to cook, do craftwork, and take care of my kids and husband. I do see myself staying at home. :)
