REVIEW: Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick - Perfect Peony

Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick - Perfect Peony

I love REVLON. I love love love love Revlon.

It's the only cosmetic brand that LOVES my pimple-prone skin. I first fell in-love with their Colorstay Mineral Foundation. Then I fell in love with their lip stains.

I will be doing a review for their Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick (in Perfect Peony Shade).

When it comes to make-up, I am a fan of anything that stays for a long time - saves me money and saves me time. So the word 'COLORSTAY' lured my attention.

THE PRODUCT:
- It's a liquid lipstick.
- According to Revlon's website
It's a one-step food-proof lipcolor with patented ColorStay technology that lasts up to 24hours.
*Food-proof lipcolor with a built-in, ultra-conditioning topcoat.

*One-step application- No topcoat required for comfortable wear.

*Stays comfortable and wears beautifully

*Does not feather or fade; no touch-ups required, even after meals
*Available in 20 full-coverage, soft satin shades, inlcuding 4 new shades!
- Content: 30ml
- PRICE: PhP 820

For this review, I will be doing the shade in 001-Perfect Peony

- I recently found out that you call this applicator a DOE-FOOT APPLICATOR.
- I cannot actually find a perfect adjective for this shade. I think it's a bit of a subtle peach-y pink.

I am sorry for the camera. I need to buy a new one. I am using HP s300 (a spare camera since my good old Sony died a month ago)

-Here is a swatch on my skin. (I am starting to develop a feeling of hate for my camera. This is already the best shot I can get. )

-Since my camera is killing me, here is a compilation of the photos I took.

THE APPLICATION

- The label says it's a liquid lipstick. This is not similar to your ordinary lipgloss or lipstain.
- It is quite STICKY and CREAMY. If you are a bit sluggish in applying lipstick, better hurry when you apply this product because it dries fast.

This is what I look like before the application:

This is a closeup photo of me wearing Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick - Perfect Peony

I took these photos last Sunday. I applied Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick at around 9am. (I usually use cosmetics/make-ups that lasts for hours whenever I go to church.)

Yup. I do not blow-dry my hair (laziness)

I should've used a lipliner with this.

Few more minutes and I am on my way to church.

Here are the photos I took just for comparison. (I took these photos at around 9am

WHAT I THINK
- Hmmm.. I have a lot to say about this product. Here it goes!
- BEFORE application:
1. Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick looks creamy when you look at it.
2. The smell is a bit funky but tolerable. If you love anything that smells sweet/floral, you might not like this.
3. NOTE: You have to put the applicator back to the tube and close it. This product tends to dry fast.

- DURING the application
1. It has a creamy texture.
2. After a few seconds of application, it will become STICKY.
3. Be careful when applying this because it really tends to stick on the teeth.

-AFTER the application
1. When I applied this product on my lips, it felt weird. It does not feel like a lipgloss nor a lipstick. Maybe because it's a liquid lipstick? I dunno. But it had this super creamy texture that you have to apply it evenly on your lips.
 2. It looked good after I have applied it. But after a few seconds, I have have noticed the deep lines on my lips (it's something I have expected because my lips are dry).

3. When I tried putting lipgloss on, it did not do anything good for the lines. It created patches of 'lipstick stains' on my lips and it made the color uneven.

BUT WAIT! One more thing. REVLON will not put the name COLORSTAY for nothing. This products REALLY sticks on your lips (and even SKIN!). I had to remove the liquid lipstick on my hand using a makeup remover because using soap and water was not enough to remove it.

- I usually use this when I go to church because the color is not too striking. And also it really stays for a long time!
After eating, drinking, talking and gargling mouthwash,  here's the result:

I took these photos right after I came home from our church (at around 5pm). We have a lot of activities in church so I usually forget to retouch.

You will notice that the color is still obvious BUT it doesn't look good anymore. The lines are obvious and it looked patchy and flaky

Oh! the horror!

Whew!
I'm sorry I had to show you pictures of my lips and you might be sick and tired of looking at it.

PROS:
- The STAYING POWER. - it stays and stick to your lips.
- The PACKAGING - because you can see the content inside.

CONS
- The SMELL - it has a funky smell.
- It DRIES TOO FAST - so the challenge is: To apply this on your lips evenly before it dries.
- It DRIES your lips. - see the lines?
- It flaky at patchy look after application.
- Quite expensive (maybe I am just bitter about the price because I am not satisfied with the result).

Will I buy this again?
NO. I am just finishing this and I am done with this.

Actually, I have two Revlon Colorstay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick, one in PERFECT PEONY and the other is ROYAL RAISIN. I haven't opened the ROYAL RAISIN but I will keep you posted on it.
