REVIEW: Pond's Cold Cream - The Cool Classic

I ran out of The Face Shop's Herb Day Cleansing Cream last week and I did not have time to buy. I checked out the stuff I had and I found Pond's Cold Cream (The Cool Classic). With all the BB creams, foundation and concealers on my face, I was in dire need for a makeup remover.

I'll be doing a review for Pond's Cold Cream - The Cool Classic

I think every Filipina girl who were born during my time has one way or another tried a Pond's product (especially their facial wash!).

******************************************************

I have already said goodbye to this product when I was getting old (hmm.. not really old.. should I say 'when I was gaining years in my life'). So when someone gave me this  Pond's Cold Cream, I was not too excited to use it.

But since I had no choice, I had to use this last week. Here's my take on this:

THE PRODUCT
- It's a COLD CREAM CLEANSER. It's used as a make-up remover/skin cleanser.
- This cold cream is CLASSIC. It's not advertised that much compared to other skin care products that they Pond's have. It's a bit difficult to find this product in our local drugstores and supermarket. I tried looking for this last weekend to check the price but I couldn't one in Watson's near in our place.

- It comes in a jar.
-Net Weight: 6.1 OZ / 172g

Product Description
-This is a soap-free cleanser gently removes dirt and make-up, even waterproof mascara, without drying skin.
-HYPOALLERGENIC
-SUITABLE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
-WON'T CLOG PORES
-DERMATOLOGIST TESTED

Directions for use
- Apply gently to skin.
-Wipe with tissue or wet washcloth to remove.
-Rinse with water if desired.

WHAT'S INSIDE

- The SCENT: Oh!! It has a very strong scent. It's quite strong and reminds me of the creams that our grandmothers use. I was a little hesitant to try this because of the scent but since I had no choice, I had to scoop out a blob and apply it to my face.
- Once you scoop it out, you will notice that the cream is thick. It is also quite oily.

Hmm.. oily.
The APPLICATION
- I massaged this to my face so that the BB creams and all those makeup would easily come off.
- This is way too oily. After applying  Pond's Cold Cream, your face will feel like someone smothered you with butter.

- After applying this on my face and wipe it using tissue or a piece of cloth.

- I actually I liked what I saw after wiping my face with tissue.

Oh dirt!

WHAT CAN I SAY?
- Hmm.. I can't decide whether I will praise this product or give it a thumbs down. Here are the reasons:

PROS
- As a makeup remover: a big THUMBS UP! I must admit that this is a perfect make-up remover. It removes all my stubborn makeup in just a few wipes.
- Removes make-up without drying skin: With all those 'oil' on your face, I really doubt your skin will dry.

CONS
- Oh the scent!!! Once you open the jar, that scent lingers in your nostrils until you've wash it off.
- Oh the oiliness!! It's really oily. I had to wash my hands with soap for 2-3 times to remove the oil. That's why I am a bit hesitant to leaving the product on my face overnight.
- I had a breakout the next day. This is something I've expected. But after 3 days of using  Pond's Cold Cream, the zit somehow subsided.

Will I buy this?
- Maybe. As a make-up remover, this product is all worth it. The scent? too strong.  I love The Face Shop's Herb Day Cleansing Cream but since I am saving my money, I will just stick to this for a while.

  1. Quick question,

did you only wipe off the cream with a tissu? Try using a warm washcloth! It won't leave you so oily!

  2. I saw one of this cold cream at Glorietta. I forgot the store name because it was some kind of store that sells "US" products and as far as I remember, it costs Php 690.00. I was about to buy it because its pond's and I know that pond's are a budget-friendly beauty stuff until I saw the price tag then I was no no haha. How much did you bought yours?

    1. Hi!
I was just so lucky because I got this from a relative that sent us a "balik-bayan box" from the US.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find one like this (I mean EXACTLY like this) in the supermarkets or pharmacies :(

and 690pesos is way too pricey :(
